Not sure if it is THAT....unfortunately I doubt it! I think they are trying to grasp at straws to have something to name in the Notice to Quit..... STILL: ALL TENANTS can refuse entry into their home or have the right to request entry only occur when tenant IS AT HOME. According to the laws in Michigan, no one is supposed to be able to enter your home without you first being supplied with documentation about who is entering, when and FOR WHAT REASON."....You should set standards for your landlord to follow. Write your landlord a letter making clear your expectations. You might demand one to three days written or verbal advance notice for permission to enter. The landlord's request should state who is entering, at what time, and for what reason. You have the right to be present whenever someone enters and the right to refuse entry...."
-From Michigan Legal Aidwww.michiganlegalaid.org/library_client/resource.2005-05-30.1117489737513/html_viewJUST A VAGUE "NEED TO INSPECT" IS NOT ENOUGH.
ASK FOR (IN WRITING) SPECIFIC REASONS MANAGEMENT IS COMING IN TO YOUR UNITS - AND DEMAND THE WHO, WHEN & WHY FOR YOUR SPECIFIC UNIT IN WRITING BEFORE GRANTING ENTRY TO YOUR UNIT.I will be sending out a form to everyone that can be posted on your door that DENIES ENTRY UNTIL you receive an individual written notice with who, what, when, why for entry into your unit. Also included will be a form that DENIES ENTRY UNLESS you are present at your apt during entry. This form will give you a space to write specific days and times you will be available to supervise inspection, so management can schedule to enter your apartment at these times. You can also write your own notice outlining one of these two stipulations for entry in to your unit. Please post all entry notices on the outside of your doors ASAP!
