As those of you who attended our tenant meeting know - we have a class action law firm that is VERY VERY interested in taking our issues to court.
Tomorrow, 8/3/12, the tenant representatives in contact with this law firm will have official documentation stating this firm's interest in representing our class action suit against Boydell and the terms of this representation. The current terms presented outline that NO MONIES will be provided by any tenant - previous or present - directly to the firm. If lawsuit is not won, no monies will be owed. If lawsuit is settled or won, the law firm would then recoup legal fees from the amount awarded to those involved with the class action. Further details of the terms of this suit, as well as if we have any room to alter these terms (IE: If we wanted the law firm to recoup a specific set percentage of damages awarded rather than recouping all legal fees, etc) will be provided as they become available.
PLEASE LET EACH OTHER KNOW IF YOU THINK WE SHOULD MOVE FORWARD.
Because....To me it seems that.....
At this point, if any of us hopes to be reimbursed for any of the ridiculousness we have had to put up with from this building and its management -
WE MUST MOVE FORWARD WITH LEGAL ACTION.
WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
And even if it means just stopping them from doing this again...Just scaring them enough to know people have really had it with their shady, slumlord tactics...and if they do not watch it....they may find themselves in a world of trouble....
THAT IS ENOUGH.
THE LAW SUIT WILL NOT COST RESIDENTS ANYTHING.
EVEN IF WE LOSE, THEY WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE TREATING FUTURE RESIDENTS THE WAY THEY TREATED US!
Please fill out SOME form of repair & damages report as soon as possible. Even if it is hand written...in 5 minutes. A form letter will also be distributed.
I believe it really is time to bring legal action in to this situation.
WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE IF WE WANT TO STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS AND MAKE SURE NO OTHER FUTURE TENANTS' RIGHTS ARE VIOLATED EITHER!
No. Other. Choice.
Our first recommendation to our lawyer - as to where to go from here - will be to start reaching out to as many PREVIOUS tenants as possible. Those who are no longer living in Boydell/Loft Place anymore. These people have NOTHING TO LOSE and EVERYTHING TO GAIN. Search Boydell and Loft Place and see how many comments you can find about the horrible conditions. TOO MANY TO COUNT. Boydell cannot threaten these people in any way - so they are the first people we hope to reach out to. If you know ANY FORMER RESIDENTS OF ANY BOYDELL/LOFT PLACE RESIDENCES - and they experienced unfit conditions - please let them know about our board and ask them to post (or private message admin) with their contact information. Presumably many previous tenants moved out because of the conditions and lack of being able to get ANY REPAIRS completed. Even serious ones! So finding these people should be pretty easy. Once we have a large group of them - others who are still residents with Boydell/Loft Place will feel more sheltered from any harassment from the company.
COMMENT HERE AND TELL OTHERS WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MOVING FORWARD WITH LEGAL ACTION!
