I wanted to post this for everyone who is moving now, or plans to move, like myself. SAVE ALL YOUR RECIEPTS!!! I plan on being reimbursed for not only my rent, but alllllll moving costs as well. Mileage on my car, gas, application fees, time I have taken off work, the movers I've hired, boxes and packing tape, etc. Here is an exerpt from www.sheltonlegal.net/html/tenants__rights_in_michigan.html"...Under such circumstances, the tenant’s best option is usually to find another place to live and then sue the former landlord for damages. When this is done, the tenant can collect for all expenses related to the wrongful eviction, including moving expenses, storage expenses, the difference in rent between the tenant’s new residence and the property from which she was evicted for the remaining term of the lease. In some circumstances, the tenant can recover three times the amount of actual damages or $200, whichever is greater. If the tenant is unable to move, she can also seek an injunction requiring the landlord to immediately halt the offending behavior."
